A Landmark Exhibition

2020 marked the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Italy. CICS, the Consulate General of Italy in Hong Kong and First Initiative Foundation joined hands to facilitate the cooperation between the iconic Uffizi Galleries in Florence and Hong Kong’s Leisure and Cultural Department (LCSD) in presenting “The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series: Botticelli and His Times – Masterworks from the Uffizi.”

“We are honoured to celebrate the friendship between our two communities with a memorable exhibition – the most important Italian art show arranged in Asia in 2020,” added Mr. Clemente Contestabile, Consul General of Italy in Hong Kong.

The event struck a resounding chord between the two cultures. For the first time, 40 masterworks from Italy’s historic past were displayed at the Hong Kong Museum of Art. 10 of these masterpieces were original creations of the great Sandro Botticelli. The Renaissance-themed masterpieces were featured in  the HKMoA galleries for a memorable example of connection and mutual understanding through art.
